Partnerships

What we will place, what we will not, and how to reach us.

BudgetCalm publishes practical money guides for beginners, students, families, and low-income households. Some of what we cover — budgeting apps, cashback services, marketplaces, second-hand and refurbished goods, budget travel — has commercial partners behind it, and we work with a number of affiliate networks and advertisers.

This page exists so that conversation starts from the same place every time, and so that a network reviewer can see the standards before asking.

What we will do

  • Cover a product where it genuinely helps the reader the page was written for, in a guide that would exist whether or not the product paid.
  • Mark every paid link with rel="sponsored nofollow" and place a plain-language disclosure above the first one on the page.
  • State the country a product is actually available in, and route a reader to the programme that serves their country rather than one that will not accept them.
  • Record the date a product’s pricing and terms were last checked, and show it on the page.
  • Say plainly whether the product was tested or evaluated from published documentation. See the methodology page.

What we will not do

  • Sell a recommendation, a ranking position, or the removal of a criticism. A commission does not change a verdict, and no partner sees a guide before it is published.
  • Publish a sponsored post disguised as editorial, or a followed link in exchange for payment.
  • Run interstitials, pop-unders that hijack the back button, or ad formats that make a page harder to read on a phone.
  • Promote high-cost credit, payday lending, debt-settlement schemes, crypto speculation, or anything sold on a promise of guaranteed returns. Our readers are people trying to make a small budget work; the harm from getting that wrong is not symmetrical with the commission.
  • Overstate our audience. Traffic figures we send are taken from analytics and stated as measured, including when they are small.

Formats we accept

  • Affiliate programmes through a network, or directly with the advertiser.
  • Display advertising, where it does not degrade the reading experience.
  • Tool and calculator sponsorship, labelled as such on the tool itself.
  • Newsletter placements, labelled in the email, to subscribers who opted in.

Audience and reporting

Current traffic, top pages, and the country split come from our own analytics and are sent on request as a dated media kit rather than published here, so the figures a partner sees are always current rather than whatever a page said months ago.
